Seeing as we’re writing this post on a Friday we’ve all got the weekend on our brains and most of us love to let our hair down (READ ‘afros out’).
Combine that with the fact that this is Olympic season and London is in celebratory mode, we thought our three of a kind will be songs that help us get the party started - African style!
Here are two classics from the South to the West coast that we know some will relate
and a modern take on a classic that is a guaranteed floor filler
“asssssshhhhh…pom pom”
Three of a Kind #23 is a guest post form the force behind iamthenublack, a platform/resource (it is my go to tool) which shines a light on the work of contemporary creatives of the African Diaspora, Gabrielle Smith.
Thursday comes to you with some musical “introspection” from the indomitable Mez from the Nickel Bags of Funk Radio Show outta Hell( I mean Hull!). Mez has a music collection that I would love to have in my house and he has a facility for language and thought that I am enthralled and scared by in equal measure. Lets just say if he ever becomes a Professor or something he will be the fierce but loved type.
Over to Mez….
